Railway plans

To facilitate a new rail link between Helsinki and Turku, five separate railway plans will be prepared and developed further toward the construction stage as individual entities. A dedicated planning consultant will be charge of each railway plan.

The railway planning by the project partnership is based on the previous plans and assessments of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency. The materials can be reviewed on the project website of the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency.

West Railway comprises the following railway plans:

  • Espoo–Lohja (Espoo–Salo railway line)
  • Lohja–Salo (Espoo–Salo railway line)
  • Salo–Hajala
  • Hajala–Nunna
  • Nunna–Kupittaa

Information about the project

The Railway plans will be updated during the construction planning phase

Stakeholders decided to change the planning criteria of the project to reduce the cost of investmen. The railway plans will be carried out in line with the existing CEF agreement, and the plans will be further updated during the construction planning stage. The changes will not significantly impact the schedule of the project or the commencement of construction
